Role Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Civil Design Engineer, to join our client, a leading practice of civil/structural engineering consultants, based in their offices in London. The practice is expanding rapidly, working on a wide variety of residential and commercial development projects for both private and public sector clients, and they are now looking for suitably experienced engineers to join their busy team.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate a suitable level of experience in below ground drainage and road / pavement design. You will be capable of working with minimal supervision but you must also able to supervise and support junior members of the team if required. You will be expected to be responsible for the production of technical design information including drawings, calculations, specifications and reports. You will need to be a good communicator and be able to liaise effectively with clients and other design team members.

The successful candidate will also be expected to assist in the preparation of bids and proposals for new schemes together with the project management and financial control of small and medium sized projects.

Skills, experience and qualifications required:

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Chartered status with a relevant professional body, or working towards this status would be preferable.
  • A proven track record in highways and drainage works/scheme design (minimum of 3-6 years experience preferred)
  • Able to work autonomously and demonstrate a high level of proficiency and expertise in these core areas of highways & drainage engineering.
  • Ability to use computer modelling packages such as PDS, Microdrainage, Autocad & Civils 3D
  • Experienced in the production of specifications and technical reports such as Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies (preferred)
  • Experienced in the use of design standards such as Sewers for Adoption, the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Manual for Streets.
  • Experienced in adoptable infrastructure design and the negotiation of Section 104, 106, 38 and 278 Agreements.
  • You must have excellent written and spoken English and good communication skills.

 

Job type: Ongoing/long term contract or permanent staff
