Role Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor, for an ongoing contract role, to work for the housing department of a local authority based in Central/North London.

The successful candidate will be required to work with Managers, Trade Staff, Supervisors, Heads of Service to promote health and safety best practice, and to find solutions & ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety legislation.  You must have a background in Health & Safety in either a specialist or generalist environment and experience within a Repairs Maintenance environment (preferably residential properties).   This role will mainly be in relation to maintenance activites carried out in domestic social housing properties

Duties will also include working alongside Union Safety Representatives to reach satisfactory agreement on any issues, and reviewing Occupational Health reports and helping with implementing any recommendations .


  • Nebosh Diploma or Nebosh General Certificate and studying for the Diploma
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Background in H&S in either a specialist or generalist environment
  • Experiencing of working within a Repairs Maintenance Environment ( Ideally a DLO )
  • Adopts a practical problem solving approach – including supporting managers & team leaders to maintain an effective safety culture
  • Ability to provide a practical H&S solutions that fit in with the authorities activities.
  • In –Depth knowledge of Asbestos related Law / Regulations / Processes
  • FRA Experience
  • Ability to devise/update and objectively review Risk Assessments / Method Statement
  • Ability to update and deliver Tool Box Talks and Health & Safety Inductions
  • Experience of Accident/ Incident Investigations
  • Face Fitting training experience 


Job Details:

Job Type: Contract

Duration: 3 months (possibly ongoing if workload dictates)

Working hours: 30 hrs per week.

Rate: c.£26.79 p/h (Umbrella)  This role falls within IR35

Location: Central/North London
