Role Description
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Contracts Advisor, to work on behalf of our client, a leading offshore energy engineering and construction contractor, based in London.
The role will encompass deployment of Contract Management activities for their London hub, covering a new pipeline project. Candidates must therefore have proven experience negotiating and executing offshore construction contracts.
Job Specification:
• Review and qualify or draft different types of contracts, including but not limited to: engineering, procurement, Construction,(EPC) transportation and installation, service contracts, as well as associated confidentiality agreements, non-disclosure and restrictive use agreements; partnership/consortium/joint venture/alliance agreements, subcontract agreements;
• Manage the workload in coordination with Tendering/Commercial, Project Management and Procurement functions, collecting the inputs from the other functions, including Insurance, Tax and Finance;
• Advise Company and Corporate Management on the main contractual risks, identifying and proposing contractual mitigation actions
• Participate in meetings (with internal clients, external clients, partners and subcontractors), negotiating, taking notes and preparing summaries and/or minutes of meetings
• Negotiate the contractual instruments with the counterparties in the best interests of the Company and in accordance with Company risk policies
• Support the Project Management teams in the determination of claims and contract management strategies , in the preparation and evaluation of variation order requests, and in the drafting of key project correspondence towards clients, major subcontractors and/or other interfacing third parties
• Support the Procurement function in the review of subcontracts and purchase orders
• Draft all related legal instruments and correspondence
• Perform legal research, e.g. case law affecting Company market space
• Have knowledge of the industry standard contracts (FIDIC, LOGIC, BIMCO, IOCs’ etc.)
Essential Skills
• Knowledge and experience of English Law
• Proven experience of reviewing and advising on tendering contracts and of administrating project contracts and effective negotiation skills are essential
• Proven experience negotiating and executing offshore construction contracts
• International mobility both for short missions and potentially for long-term assignments.
