Role Description

Bid Manager – Engineering / Defence Sector - Contract roles 

We are seeking experienced Bid Managers to support a major engineering organisation working within a secure and highly regulated environment.

The successful candidates will take responsibility for managing bids throughout the full lifecycle, from opportunity qualification through to submission and post-submission activities.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and manage the full bid lifecycle from qualification through to submission.

* Develop bid strategies aligned with customer requirements and business objectives.

* Manage bid schedules, deliverables, reviews and governance activities.

* Lead multidisciplinary bid teams and coordinate contributions from technical, commercial and operational stakeholders.

* Oversee the development and production of proposal responses.

* Review and challenge proposal content to ensure quality, compliance and consistency.

* Coordinate bid workshops, reviews and governance meetings.

* Manage customer clarifications and ensure responses are delivered within required timescales.

* Identify and manage commercial, technical and delivery risks associated with bids.

* Provide progress updates and risk reporting to senior stakeholders.

* Support continuous improvement of bid processes, templates and knowledge management.

Experience Required

* Proven experience in Bid Management, ideally within Defence, Nuclear, Government, Infrastructure or another highly regulated sector.

* Demonstrable experience managing complex competitive bids from qualification through to submission.

* Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across technical, commercial and business functions.

* Good understanding of public-sector procurement and tendering processes.

* Strong stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills.

* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

* Strong proposal development and content review skills.

* Knowledge of Shipley, APMP or equivalent bid management methodologies would be advantageous.

* BPSS security clearance is required.

Positions: 2

Contract: 6 months initially, with potential for extension

Working: Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days remote

Hours: 40 hours per week

Location: Surrey

Start: ASAP

Engagement: Inside IR35

Security: BPSS security clearance required

Rate: Negotiable – please state your desired rate
